A new set of colours will be presented this morning to the Salesian Brigade at the Salesian Oratory in Sliema by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi. They will be blessed by former chaplain Fr Joseph Borg, SDB.

All ex-members of the Salesian Boy's Brigade and Salesian Boys' and Girls' Brigade are invited to the event. Those attending are to be present at the oratory by 9.45 a.m.

The ceremony forms part of the activities marking the brigade's centenary.

Future activities include the unveiling of a plaque at Independence Gardens in Sliema on September 19, followed by a seminar, and a blood donation drive on October 10 in Sliema.

The activities will be concluded on December 8 with a theatrical activity at the Salesian Theatre in Sliema.

The celebrations started on January 31, when the brigade's Corp of Drums gave a performance at San Anton Palace gardens.

A church parade was held on March 26, followed by an investiture ceremony at the Don Bosco Oratory chapel at which a new uniform was launched.

A march pass followed in the streets of Sliema. This marked the official opening of the centenary celebrations and the feast of St Sebastian, patron saint of the oratory.
