A new childcare centre, Nanna- kola, was yesterday inaugurated at the Għargħur government school by Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg and Family Minister Dolores Cristina.

Dr Borg said the centre was in line with the government's vision that schools should not be just centres of education, culture and sports but also offer services in the community. The government, he said, invested more than €116,000 (Lm49,798) in three centres according to standards it established in July 2006.

This was besides a €300,000 (Lm130,000) vote for a scheme aimed at helping childcare centres improve their services in the best interests of children and families.
