Dr Adrian L. Camilleri has been appointed chairman of the Teaching Profession Council. The three-year appointment was made by Education Minister Dolores Cristina.

The council advises the minister on the recognition of teachers' qualifications and considers applications for teaching warrants.

Dr Camilleri is a lawyer who has specialised in company law, commercial law and European law as well as voluntary organisations and refugees.

He also handles disciplinary matters in the Malta Football Association.
