Customers will be able to benefit from reduced fares when using their tallinja card on buses as from July 1, when new fares will also come into effect.

Malta Public Transport commercial director Daniel Grech said more than 100,000 people have so far registered for the card, including 40,000 Kartanzjan holders.

Although the company had initially said cards will be distributed through councils, it decided to mail the cards to applicants directly. Applicants will start  receiving their card by post as from tomorrow. They will also receive an informational leaflet explaining the different methods for topping up cards.

Customers may top up online, using a top up voucher, by calling a special number or from MaltaPost or a Malta Public Transport ticket booth.

Top up vouchers may be purchased from more than 1,000 outlets across Malta and Gozo.
