A Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety will for the first time be offered by the Centre for Labour Studies, the University of Malta said yesterday.

The five-year course will be taught part-time, with lectures taking place in the evenings. Topics will include health and safety law, safety, management, occupational psychology, ergonomics, occupational health and hygiene, toxicology, environmental health, and health promotion.

The course is open to individuals who possess the university’s general entry requirements, as well as mature students who are aged 23 or over.

Mature students who have not obtained a SEC level pass at Grade 3 or higher in English language must sit for an English proficiency exam, to be held on January 21. Mature applicants will also be required to sit for an interview on January 25.

The closing date for receipt of applications is January 15 for mature students and January 22 for all other applicants.
