Mark Sammut was the only swimmer in record form yesterday when competing in the third Age Group Meeting of the year held at Tal-Qroqq National Pool.

The 12-year-old, representing IASIS, broke the 50m backstroke record in the 'B' category, which is reserved for swimmers born in 1993 and 1994. He swam the distance in 35.23 seconds.

This was an improvement of 1.19 seconds on the previous mark of 36.42 set by Daniel Galea (Sliema ASC) during the previous Age Group meeting held last March and 1.34 seconds faster than his previous best.
