Trappers’ nets were injuring plovers because of their mesh size, the Hunters and Trappers Federation said.

It said in a statement that it had been receiving complaints from trappers that birds were injuring themselves since the opening of the season, when the new mesh size came into effect.

The FKNK said that some birds were even ending decapitated with the nylon since their head could easily go through the mesh

The federation said it passed on the complaints to the authorities that had issued the statement highlighting the mesh sizes but it had not yet received a reply.
