Malta's population at the end of last year stood at 429,344, 0.9 per cent more than in 2013.
The National Statistics Office said the population increase was mainly due to net migration (immigration less emigration).
The Maltese population accounted for 93.6 per cent of the total population.
Live births increased by 4.5 per cent over the previous year. 109 babies, or 2.5 per cent, were born to teenage mothers. Almost two-thirds of babies were born to mothers aged 25-34. There were 3,270 registered deaths of which 63.5 per cent were persons aged 75 and over.
There were 2,871 marriages including 220 in Gozo. A total 1,388 were civil. This was 15.8 per cent more than in the previous year.
Nearly 20 per cent were between spouses aged 25-29.
