Nestlé Malta has recalled popular Milkybar Buttons 30-G packets with a Best Before date of October 2011.

It said the recall is being made as a precaution as a very small number of packets could contain small pieces of rubber. No such packets have been found in Malta so far.

"There is no food safety risk from the buttons themselves, therefore if these products have already been consumed there is no cause for concern," the company said.

The Best Before date can be found on the back of the packet.

The company said no other Milkybar or products such as Easter eggs are affected.

"Any consumers who have purchased Milkybar Buttons 30-G packs with Best Before Date October 2011 are advised not to eat the product," the company said.

Returned packets to the company's office in Pantar Road, Lija, will be replaced. The company can be reached on freephone number 8007 2209. The offices open between 8 am and 5 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays and until 3.30 p.m. on Fridays.
