A 24-year-old man from Naxxar was today given an 18-month jail term suspended for three years after he was found guilty of an incident in Sta Venera on August 7, 2011.

The court heard how police had gone to the scene where they found Wayne Joseph Camilleri kicking and jumping on the bonnet of a Ford Fusion.

He threatened the police and ripped a wiper from a car and tried to attack the police with it.

The police only managed to control him with pepper spray.

Mr Camilleri had been charged with damaging cars, injuring a policeman, swearing in public and assaulting a police officer.

He was also ordered to pay €3,300 in damages.
