A Nato naval squadron has arrived in Grand Harbour for a visit of a few days.

The squadron is being led by German Admiral Thorston Kaehler flying his flag on the frigate Bayern. The other ships are Turkish, Italian and Portuguese frigates.

Training will be conducted jointly with the AFM.

Admiral Kaehler said this was one of several Nato maritime groups in the Mediterranean. The group was previously involved in anti-piracy operations off the Horn of Africa.

The ships are berthed in French Creek alongside Senglea. They leave on Wednesday.
