A negative statement on employment issued by the Nationalist Party’s deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami yesterday confirmed that the PN was divided in factions, the Labour Party said.
It said that Dr Fenech Adami issued the statement after it emerged that, together with the Czech Republic, Malta had the lowest unemployment rate in the European Union.
This statement, the PL said, highly contrasted with another issued by the deputy leader of the PN Mario de Marco earlier this week in which he said it was satisfying that the private sector was still the motor of job creation in Malta.
Dr Fenech Adami, on the other hand, criticised the creation of jobs in the civil service when everyone knew that, in their majority, these jobs were needed in health and education sectors. Was Dr Fenech Adami saying nurses, teachers and LSA’s should not be employed, the PL asked.
It said it was clear that the negativity faction spearheaded by Simon Busuttil and Beppe Fenech Adami was reigning within the PN.
But the people were positive and optimistic because they knew they had a government which was factually working to increase jobs and opportunities, it said.
