Retail sales in Malta dropped 2.5 per cent in July when compared to the same month last year, confirming a reduced cash flow, the Nationalist Party said.

It said in a statement this showed the government’s lack of economic vision for the country.

The Nationalist Party said it was concerned because this was the fourth drop in six months, indicating this was not an isolated problem but a more structural one.

The drop also came at a time when retail sales in the EU were seeing a growth indicating the problem was not the result of some international factor.

The PN appealed to the government to take initiatives aimed at reviving the economy and increasing cash flow in the 2015 Budget.
