The National Library of Malta will be holding its second public lecture on ‘Studying Ceramics in Early Modern Malta - Archival and Archaeological Sources’ next week.

The lecture will be delivered by Nathaniel Cutajar from the National Museum of Archaeology, Heritage Malta. Cutajar’s lecture will focus on the inter-disciplinary approach for the study of material culture in Early Modern Malta. It will explore some of the ways in which archaeological ceramics can bring new insight into social and historical studies, especially ways how archival and archaeological evidence can be brought together yet without fully merging these two radically different strands of information.

The National Library of Malta will be holding a series of public lectures for the year 2018-19. This lecture is part of a series of eight which the National Library is presenting throughout 2018-2019 on Malta’s urban landscapes, archives and archaeology.

The series entitled ‘Cities, Harbours, and Artefacts: transformations of an early modern landscape’ is coordinated by Mevrick Spiteri and Maroma Camilleri.

The second lecture will be held on Monday at 6.30pm. Admission to the lectures is free.
