Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is a non-profit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. They are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean by following a programme of complete abstinence from drugs. There is only one requirement for membership - the desire to stop using them.

A number of agencies and organisations are supporting NA Malta. They include the OASI Foundation, Caritas Malta and Mount Carmel Hospital. NA also organises PI (Prisons and Institutions) groups to hold meetings intended to encourage and support those who have just completed some therapeutic programme to combat drug abuse and are about to reintegrate themselves in society.

To mark its fifth anniversary, NA Malta is holding its first National Convention at the Coastline Hotel, Salina Bay, on Friday, February 16, at 6 p.m. A number of those present, both Maltese and foreign, will share experiences. There will be ample time for questions and personal comments. The meeting will be followed by a buffet dinner, during which all participants could get to know each other socially and exchange views.

Individuals, professional organisations, groups an other organisations interested in this social field are invited to attend the convention and encourage others to attend.

Those wishing to attend should call 7946-6566 or send an e-mail to: na@namalta.org giving the number of those attending the convention and the buffet dinner.
