The Malta Football Association said this evening that the National Audit Office report on the National Good Causes Fund contained inaccuracies and mentioned monies it never received.

It said in a statement that it was not true that it received more than €5 million from the fund. The funds it received, which were not more than €150,000, were for Maltese clubs to improve their facilities.

The MFA said that the €5.6 million mentioned in the report included subsidies on the rental of public land to Maltese clubs to organise nurseries as well as money spent directly by the government on the building of grounds at Sta Venera and Birzebbuga.
