Nadur Youngsters clinched the points they needed to make sure of winning the title prior to their last match of the championship against nearest rivals Victoria Hotspurs. This was Nadur's third consecutive championship success and the 10th in their history. They have now won five of the last seven Division One championships in Gozo.

Nadur Youngsters 4
Sannat Lions 1

Leaders Nadur needed three points from this match to avoid putting all their hard work this season at risk in their last match of the campaign.

The Youngsters held command of play for long stretches as Sannat produced stiff resistance and stayed in contention until the last seven minutes of the match.

Sannat went close to scoring an early goal when an attempt by Kenneth Mercieca was cleared off the line by Josef Buttigieg.

Nadur soon regained the initiative and their efforts were rewarded in the 29th minute when Eric Nkwankwo opened the scoring with a header.

The Youngsters continued to dictate matters but Sannat could have levelled the scores minutes from half-time but Fernando de Andrade concluded badly from a good position.

The Lions were also unlucky in the 47th minute when a Cristiano de Oliveira free-kick hit the bar. Nadur's Portelli suffered the same fate at the other end when his header from a corner action also came off the post.

However, the Nadur skipper doubled the score in the 62nd minute, pouncing on a loose ball after the goalkeeper parried a shot by Nkwankwo.

The Lions hit back immediately and re-opened the issue five minutes later with a goal by De Andrade.

But Nadur were not to be denied and secured the points with two late goals that dashed Sannat's hopes of an upset.

Portelli restored Nadur's two-goal lead in the 83rd minute and Chris Camilleri sealed the issue with a fine strike five minutes later.

Xaghra United 1
Qala St Joseph 0

Xaghra United are still in with a chance of side-stepping relegation to Division Two after edging Qala St Joseph 1-0.

The Saints needed a point to make sure of their status next season but it was also a must-win game for Xaghra to keep their hopes alive.

Xaghra scored the decisive goal in the 37th minute with a spectacular Leandro Blanco de Castro free-kick.

Qala's reaction never materialised after the break and Xaghra were dangerous on the counter. The Blues could have sealed the issue on more than one occasion especially through efforts by Joseph Sultana and Joseph Mercieca.

Division Two

Promotion contenders SK Victoria Wanderers chalked up a convincing 3-0 victory over St Lawrence Spurs in their penultimate league match.

The Wanderers are now sharing the top of the table position with Xewkija Tigers. Player-coach Mark Buttigieg put them ahead midway through the first half and Ige Adesina made sure of Victoria's victory with two more goals, one of them a 42nd-minute penalty.

Munxar Falcons are the first team to complete their commitments this season. They collected four points from their last two matches to finish fifth in the standings.

Munxar first beat Oratory Youths 2-1 with goals from Josmar Farrugia and Robert Said. The lowly Youths scored their consolation goal from an Ishaku Umoru penalty six minutes from time.

The Falcons then obtained a point from their next match against Zebbug Rovers after a 3-3 draw. The two teams ended the match with a player less.

The goals for Munxar were scored by Takam Boudouin (6th), Mario Azzopardi (20th) and Patrick Falzon (25th pen). Bazil Chibueze (8th), Joseph Cordina (17th pen) and Charlton Borg (67th) replied for the Rovers.
