Hunters have found the remains of a Russian plane that disappeared a year ago with 13 people on board in central Russia.

The Antanov An-2 left the city of Serov in June 2012.

Officials have found 11 bodies.

Investigators suspect the passengers -- including a local police chief -- may have taken off on an impromptu vacation following a drinking session.

The wreck was discovered by hunters - eight months after the official search was called off.

Russia and other former Soviet republics have among the worst air safety records in the world.

Their accident rate was almost three times the global average in 2011.
