The Malta Union of Teachers has warned that it will order industrial action if a group of learning support assistants are not given a proper grade within a week.

The union said it had been in discussions with the Government for over nine months and had been promised that the issue would have been settled by the end of September.

However, this did not materialise, leaving it with no option but to declare an industrial dispute. It gave the educational authorities until Friday to assign the group to working grade LSAII.
