The Malta Union of Teachers has threatened it will register an industrial dispute if the Sliema residential parking scheme is not suspended.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, the union expressed concern at scheme which would create problems for the number of people who worked in the numerous schools in the locality.

The MUT said that there were several primary, secondary and language schools leading to a number of workers requiring parking slots.

The scheme, it said, was introduced without any consultation with the stakeholders. It expected the scheme to be suspended until a solution was found to the problems it would create.
