Updated - The MUT has suspended a two hour strike it had called for Friday at Mcast, saying a conciliation meeting with the college management would be held tomorrow.

The union said its decision was a good will gesture which was being taken despite a strong attack against it made today during an Mcast staff meeting.

The union said members of staff felt intimidated by the attacks that were made.

The union said it is calling for the resignation of Mcast chairman Joe Farrugia in view of his attacks on the union and the personal integrity of its officials, without prejudice to any legal action.

The dispute is about the employment conditions of LSAs, forced self-employment of part-timers, unprocessed progressions of lecturers and confusion over taxation status of lecturers subscribing services for courses on a part-time/over-time basis.

The first two-hour strike was held earlier this month.
