The length of time it was taking for vacancies within Education Directorates to be filled was unacceptable and whoever was responsible should assume responsibility, the Malta Union of Teachers said.

In a statement it expressed disappointment and concern and noted that two vital vacancies had been unoccupied for between one and two years while the process to select directors had so far taken more than three months.

This procrastination was not only discriminatory towards teaching grades, it also completely contrasted with the government’s political commitment to provide the necessary resources for the Education System to succeed.

The MUT called for the matter to be resolved by the end of the month.
