Ramadan is an opportunity for reflection and a period during which muslims are instructed to refrain from sinful behaviour. Fasting is observed from sunrise to sunset during the holy month.

Eid kicks off the month of Shawwal with a feast although even this is bound to be a struggle for the 8.3m Yemenis facing famine.
