A young amputee and a man with half an ear, scars of the past, joined the file outside the Marsa Open Centre hall yesterday to celebrate the end of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting. Muslims and Catholics filed into the hall to share lamb and curried rice, filling the room with excited chatter.
During Ramadan, participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking and sexual relations from dawn till sunset.
One man donned a top with an American flag, seemingly unmoved by the current worldwide dispute involving a Florida pastor who threatened to burn the Koran.
The event was organised by the centre’s management.
