Opposition leader Joseph Muscat yesterday ended his visit to China with an emotional meeting with Xu Genyuan, the son of a Chinese who died while at work on the building of the Red China dock in March of 1979.

The Xu family said they were honoured the Maltese remembered a father who lost his life in a land so far away from home. Mr Xu was posthumously awarded the Midalja tal-Qadi tar-Repubblika last year.

Earlier, Dr Muscat met officials who are preparing for the opening of the World Expo next month.

Dr Muscat was accompanied by central government officials and had various meetings with Shanghai officials.
