Malta junior champion Roderick Muscat is currently in Ireland for a training camp as part of his build-up for the World Championships in Canada in October.

The Pamsons CC rider will spend four weeks in Ireland, taking part in various competitions, including time-trials and road races.

Muscat was recently in Sicily with the national team and was involved in two events.

In one of them, the Trofeo del Volcano 110-kilometre race which includes a 30-kilometre climb, he finished fourth in the juniors' class and first to reach home from the Maltese team.

In the other race in Trapani, an 80-kilometre cycle, he was involved in an incident with a marshals' motorbike but recovered well from his crash and managed a creditable placing.

Muscat's training camp in Ireland was made possible through the sponsorship of James Camilleri & Sons, Discus Ltd, Kia Motors, Orion Ltd, A. Vella and N. Vassallo. More sponsorships are needed. One may obtain more details by phoning 7925-6632.
