Prime Minister Joseph Muscat was given the 'award in excellence' by the Indian-European Business Forum in recognition of Malta's economic results and his work to improve relations between Malta, India, Europe and the UK.

The award was presented during a ceremony held at the House of Lords in London.

Accepting the award, Dr Muscat said the country's successes was a result of a clear vision, which resulted in a fiscal surplus, despite a reduction in taxes and an increase in pensions, among others. He also lauded Malta's milestone of reaching almost full employment.

Dr Muscat spoke about Malta's work in the blockchain sector and said the country's focus was now increasingly shifting towards Artificial Intelligence.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Finance Minister Edward Scicluna, Malta's High Commissioner to the UK Joseph Cole, Brexit task force chairman Joseph Zammit Tabona, Malta Financial Services Authority CEO Joseph Cuschieri, Chief of Staff Keith Schembri and head of communications Kurt Farrugia.
