Jurors this morning toured the block of flats in Bugibba and viewed the lift shaft where a Ukrainian woman died in 2009 after a furious argument with her husband.

The tour took place at the second day of the trial of Sergii Nykytiuk , who is accused of his murdering his wife Liudmyla.

The case took place on the night of November 8, 2009.

The prosecution said yesterday that Mrs Nykytiuk was still alive when she found herself at the bottom of the lift shaft and might have survived with medical assistance, but her husband ignored her pleas and instead smoked a cigarette and drank some wine at their apartment.
