A mural created to mark the 100th anniversary of US baseball giants the Chicago Cubs inadvertently featured a photograph which was actually taken at the home of their city rivals the White Sox.

The 1927 photograph of the late aviator Charles Lindbergh was included on the mural at Wrigley Field, but the Cubs have now admitted it was taken when Lindbergh visited Comiskey Park, the now-demolished home of the Chicago White Sox.

Team spokesman Julian Green said the photograph of the triumphant Lindbergh was incorrectly labelled as photographs were gathered to mark the anniversary season. A closer look at the mural also revealed that a photograph of President Franklin D Roosevelt was taken at Wrigley before he was actually elected, despite what the caption reads.
