Nurse will not move to the new oncology hospital but will keep providing their services from Boffa Hospital unless parking for nurses and patients was provided, the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses said this morning.

In a statement, the MUMN expressed concern that the oncology hospital scheduled to open next year near Mater Dei had no dedicated parking space for nurses or patients.

Moreover, a mental hospital and a blood transfusion department were now being proposed in the area, further exacerbating the problem.

The union said it was issuing the directive now to avoid surprises.

It said it was ignored by the previous administration when it disagreed with the site chosen because of the traffic congestion and parking problems and it was still being ignored now.
