Charles Camilleri from Paola wrote that "The remedial action of going to court (with its long delays) for redress does not serve as a deterrent and is often abused. It is too little and too late" (March 24).

He was referring to libel cases and I fully agree with this correspondent. The use of the word libel has become the politicians' way to intimidate anyone who dares utter a word in their regard and, worse, they use it to advertise their "innocence" - hence their rebuttal - with quick-trigger like fashion to impress upon constituents their sainthood. In my cases of libel against six PN top brass and journalists, I asked for the cases to be heard with urgency, albeit to no avail.

The frivolous one against me (Where are the libel suits "galore" as reported in the PN-apologist press?) was filed under normal procedures, even though I challenged the politicians to request an urgent hearing.

Well done, Mr Camilleri.
