Mtarfa recalled its roots as a military town today with Military Mtarfa, a day-long series of activities which included military re-enactments and exhibitions of militaria.
The activity was coordinated by the locality's local council and included a Victory Kitchen similar to those set up in the second world war because of the severe food shortage.
There was also some 'urban warfare' between German and British 'troops' although, fortunately, no such warfare was ever seen in Malta.
Parts of the old military hospital and the clock tower were opened for visitors.
