Barriers placed across a lane which takes traffic from the Msida roundabout towards Rue D'Argens are being removed after they caused a long traffic jam.

The barriers were placed this morning to stop traffic access to Rue D'Argens from the lane around the Bocci club.

Cars were diverted back around the roundabout and onto the exit at the traffic lights, alongside the exit for traffic going to the Regional Road.

Traffic which used to use the lane around the bocci club had had to cross three lanes before driving up Rue d'Argens.

The Mayor of Msida, Clifton Grima, said the council was not consulted and only learnt of the diversion this morning. Its objective, he said, was not clear.

A traffic policeman was posted at the roundabout until 11.30 a.m.
