An mark up of 0c8 on the existing mark-up of 5c7 currently enjoyed by petrol stations has been approved by the Malta Resources Authority.

This brings their maximum profit up to 6c5.

The authority said that the owners’ request was for an additional 3c2 in the mark up.

It said owners were free to opt for a lower mark-up and sell fuel cheaper than their competitors.

The owners yesterday submitted workings on their operational costs to back their claims for a higher profit margin
