A presentation on the state of play regarding the building of the new Parliament House will be given to MPs tomorrow week.

The members of the House Business Committee were told today that the presentation will be delivered by officials handling the project in the presence of, among others, the prime minister and Labour MP Charles Buhagiar, who is Dr Muscat’s consultant on the project.

The MPs will be shown the plans of the project and how spaces are expected to be used.

The members of the House Business Committee will tour the site at a later date.

Dr Muscat discussed the project with architect Renzo Piano two weeks ago. He said later that there was a problem of lack of space in the block allocated to offices – the one closest to City Gate. The other block will house the Chamber of Parliament.

During today's meeting of the House Business Committee it was agreed that parliament will not meet on Wednesday since most Nationalist MPs will attend the election of the new PN leader.
