A Maltese parliamentary delegation is in Poland for the annual commemoration of the Jewish Holocaust in the concentration camp of Auschwitz.

Nationalist MP Charlo Bonnici and Labour MP Anglu Farrugia were invited to the commemoration by the Malta-Israel Cultural Friendship Society, which is affiliated with the European Friends of Israel, a Brussels based lobby group for Israel. This is the second occasion that Maltese parliamentarians are attending this commemoration.

The commemoration takes place tomorrow in the concentration camp and will be attended by MPs and MEPs from the other 26 European states.

Today the delegation were taken for a guided tour of the former Jewish Quarter of Krakow by Noah Klieger a frequent visitor to Malta who is an 83 year old survivor of the Auschwitz concentration camps. This evening they are being hosted by the Mayor of Auschwitz, the Chief Rabbi of Poland, and the Israeli ambassador to Poland.

President Eddie Fenech Adami, currently on a state visit to Poland, will also attend the commemoration tomorrow.
