Former MP Jean-Pierre Farrugia has accused the PN of allowing a candidate to have six families register their ID card addresses on his family’s home and garage, supposedly to secure their votes.

Dr Farrugia confirmed he was referring to newly-elected MP Claudio Grech, who contests the first district with him.

Mr Grech said he was unfairly singled out because it was “established practice” for voters to register at the addresses of their choice. He and his wife registered on the address of a rented Valletta apartment, even though they did not live there. He said he could not stop voters from registering themselves to any address, including his own, but denied that he made any coordinated effort for voters to register on his apartment in Valletta or that of his parents in Ħamrun.

PN General Secretary Paul Borg Olivier denied that this could have been done with the consent of the Nationalist Party administration.
