Labour MP Joe Mizzi this afternoon called for new security arrangements at the Palace when Parliament is sitting.

Speaking at a meeting of the House Business Committee, he complained that security was practically non existent and people could walk up to the chamber, often without being challenged.

He proposed the installation of two glass doors and a glass guardroom near the entrance of the Palace from where AFM soldiers could monitor and check visitors.

The Speaker said he would discuss the situation and report back.
