Mount Carmel Hospital (MCH) recently set up information stalls at various locations in Valletta, Sliema and St Julian’s to answer questions by the public and distribute flyers in an attempt to create awareness about mental health.

The aim of the campaign was to fight against stigma and misconceptions towards people who have experienced or are experiencing mental illness.

This was held as part of MCH’s ongoing awareness campaign called ‘Learn More; Stigmatise Less’ and to mark World Mental Health Day on October 10. The event was also held in the framework of the European Year 2010 for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.

The stalls were manned by professionals from the Mental Health sector, including psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and care workers.
