Two young men died in separate incidents last night, and a third is fighting for his life.

In the first incident, a 19-year-old Frenchman died in an unusual incident in Josef Kalleja Street, Swieqi, at about 11 p.m.

The police said the man and other friends were in a garden in a private residence. The victim rested against a wall, which collapsed and debris fell on him.

The man was given first aid and rushed to hospital, where he passed away.

No one else was injured. Magistrate Giovanni Grixti is holding an inquiry.

ZEBBUG FATALITY

At Zebbug, a man died and another was critically injured in a motorcycle crash at Mdina Road at about 2.30 a.m.

The motorcycle crashed into a centre strip and then into a crash barrier.

The victim was the driver, a 36-year-old from Piet'a. He died on the spot.

A 22-year-old man from Zebbug who was a passenger was critically injured, the police said. He is in intensive care at Mater Dei Hospital.

Magistrate Grixti is leading an inquiry.
