A 32-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured this morning when his motorcycle crashed into a low boundary wall on the Coast Road, not far from the Splash and Fun park.

The accident happened just after 6 a.m. as the motorcycle was being driven towards Pembroke. No other vehicle was involved.

The motorcyclist, a man from Zabbar, was unconscious as he was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.

Policemen and personnel from the Civil Protection Department were seen searching the area after fearing that there might have been a passenger on the motorcycle. That, however, does not appear to have been the case.

The duty magistrate is holding an inquiry.

Traffic on the Coast Road has been restricted.
