A mother’s appeal for ice-cream to lift the spirits of cancer patients at Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre has received a heartwarming response, with some 80 ice-creams provided for patients in all four wards within a day.

The woman, who asked not to be named, said she took the initiative with the help of staff, who distributed the summer delights.

She issued an appeal on Facebook and several mothers and relatives came forward within hours, she said.

“It was a little something to bring relief to patients, many of whom are undergoing chemo,” she said.

“The surprise was greatly appreciated.”

She is now hoping that a company or manufacturer will offer to provide patients with ice-cream once a week.

The ice-creams were distributed to patients in the men’s women, palliative and Rainbow children’s ward.
