Mosta made it three wins in a row as they eased past bottom-placed St Andrew’s 3-0 at the Hibs Stadium.

St Andrew’s almost surprised the Premier League leaders on seven minutes when  Joseph Farrugia latched on a poor clearance by Mosta goalkeeper Omar Borg and his lob was cleared off the line by Tyrone Farrugia with the aid of the crossbar. Kieran Nwoko was first on to the rebound but his overhead kick was blocked by Borg.

The Saints were guilty of their own downfall on 27 minutes when goalkeeper Diego Rossetto fumbled his attempt to block Ian Zammit’s delivery from a corner-kick with the ball rolling into the net.

On the restart, Mosta almost doubled their lead on 48 minutes when from an Ian Zammit free-kick, Frederick’s header was pushed away by Rossetto and from the rebound Chukwide’s shot was cleared off the line by Johnson. Murga was first on the clearance but his low shot came off the upright.

Mosta all but killed off the match on 66 minutes when Murga latched onto Falzon’s pass turned past Rossetto before pushing the ball into the net.

There was still time for a third Mosta goal on 87 minutes when James Brincat released Murga who quickly picked Fidelis, who had just replaced Frederick, planted the ball into the net.

Mosta’s Edin Murga was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
