Mosta mayor Paul Chetcuti Caruana shall be taking legal action against the editor of the locality's magazine Ivan Bartolo for inteviews he gave Net TV and Favourite Channel, he said in a statement.

The mayor is at odds with the editor following an article in the magazine by deputy mayor Josette Agius Decelis, which featured a series of parliamentary questions on Mosta roads tabled by her husband, Labour MP Anthony Agius Decelis, to Roads Minister Austin Gatt.

Dr Chetcuti Caruana is claiming that, as chairman of the editorial board, he should have vetted the magazine before it was published but Mr Bartolo only sent him copies after the magazine was printed.

The mayor then ordered council employees to rip out the deputy mayor's article from the magazine and blacken out a paragraph on another page.

Dr Chetcuti Caruana argued that the magazine constituted an unfair advantage to an MP on the Mosta district.
