A mosquito killer has been recalled from the market because it poses a serious risk of electric shock.

The Malta Standards Authority said the product did not conform to European standards.

The make is CCJGE (Alloy Mosquito Fly Tube), model CMD-12-B and the MSA advised retailers in possession of such products to return them to their supplier.

Consumers who have already bought the device are not to use it and should, if possible, take it back to the place of purchase.

The MSA also reminded retailers that all electrical equipment falling under Legal Notice 181 of 2004, dealing with the sale and specifications of electrical accessories, had to be handed over to the consumer fitted with a suitable three-pin configuration.
