More than 500 Syrian migrants arrived on the Italian island of Lampedusa on two boats overnight, Ansa news agency reported.

389 were on a fishing boat and the rest on another boat.

The island’s reception centre is currently housing 1,250 migrants even though it was meant to cater for 200.
