Another Air Malta flight from Libya has arrived in Malta, having picked up Maltese passengers who spent a gruelling night at Tripoli airport.

The passengers were supposed to leave from Tripoli at 8 p.m. yesterday but their flight was cancelled when the airport temporarily refused arrivals in order to clear congestion of aircraft on the tarmac.

This morning's flight left Malta just before 6 a.m. and its return was also delayed by Tripoli airport congestion.

Air Malta is planning to operate an extra flight to Tripoli in the afternoon.

The evacuation of Maltese from Libya is being coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, working closely with Embassy and Air Malta officials on the ground in Tripoli.
