OK so wonders of wonders never cease. Now Dr Franco Debono has announced that he will be voting with Government and so the budget measures should pass. In the distance I can hear the Gonzi clique and oligarchs and the rest of the mad lot GonziPN has accumulated saying "Phew—that was close."

Dr Debono claims that this proves his consistency. And of course he has also told us—us his followers, us his captivated audience—that he could still vote against his own party in the City Gate financing wizardry. And to be super consistent our super Nationalist has gone on to berate his fellow MPs for not speaking up about the City Gate funding. Now if, dear reader, you are lost I don't blame you.

Mavericks are meant to slightly resemble loose cannonballs and their main attribute is definitely that they do not follow a straight or consistent trajectory. Our intrepid lawyer from Ghaxaq has managed to take the poor prime minister onto the dance floor—he led and is leading him a merry dance the likes of which we have rarely seen on these shores, which are not exactly bereft of silly dances and sillier dunces.

If the Prime Minister has super-egg on his face I can't say Dr Debono has not given Dr Joseph Muscat a lovely piece of the action. He keeps the leader of opposition on his toes at all times. Dr Muscat keeps getting a whiff of that much-wished, premature election but every time Dr Muscat smiles his smile of seeming victory the Ghaxaq lawyer takes away his cup. And Dr Muscat, together with his great followers ends up just like Dr Gonzi with egg firmly set on his face.

Anyone who dares say that politics is boring on this our tiny rock is really missing out on the rollicking antics performed on our political dance-floor.
