A number of Cabinet ministers on Monday fielded as many parliamentary questions from the Opposition with details of the remuneration of chairmen and members of various boards.

As at February 13, Gozo Channel chairman Paul Curmi was paid €13,976.24. His fringe benefits included the use of a mobile phone, company car, petrol allowance and benefits enjoyed by the rest of the board. Deputy chairman Vincent Mifsud received €9,999.96.

Board members Stephanie Buttigieg, Carmel Camilleri, Michael Camilleri Kamsky, Victor Galea Pace, Jeanine Giglio, Joshua Grech and Rita Mifsud received €2,795.25 each.

Mr Curmi, Mr Mifsud and the board members also benefited from free ferry passes for themselves and their spouses, group personal accident scheme, directors’ and officers’ liabilities insurance and group life assurance.

At the Institute of Tourism Studies, chairwoman Claire Zammit Xuereb was paid €4,192.87 a year. Her board members – Joseph Tanti, Edwin Borg, Raphael Cauchi, Marie Louise Mangion, Nadia Theuma and Angele Attard Chetcuti – each received €1,747.03 a year.

Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools (FTS) chairman Raymond Fenech received €13,976.24 per annum. Board members Joseph Magro, Marilyn Sciortino and Alfred Rizzo each received €2,795.26 a year. Ms Rosalyn Vella did not receive any remuneration.

At the Housing Authority, chairman Saviour Gauci received an annual honorarium of €16,305.60, a petrol allowance of €175 a month and use of a mobile phone.

Deputy chairman George Grech was paid €2,795.04, with private medical hospital plan cover for himself and his family.

Members Tanya Borg Cardona, Lorraine Cassar, Maria Grima, Daniela Mangion, Ing. Mark Galea and board secretary Ray Zammit each received the same remuneration as Dr Grech but without the hospital cover.

Lotteries and Gaming Authority chairman Nicholas Xuereb received €13,976.24 a year. Each board director – Pauline Debono, Roberta Fenech Gauci and Stanley Portelli – received €2,795.24 per annum.
