Inter president Massimo Moratti has rubbished fresh speculation linking Sampdoria striker Antonio Cassano with a move to his club.

Cassano was dropped from the squad in October following a heated argument with Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone in the dressing room.

The Genoa outfit have filed a request to the Lega Calcio to rescind the striker’s contract for insubordination.

Reports in Italy claim Cassano could move to Inter once he becomes a free agent.

However, Moratti said to La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Without a doubt, Cassano is a great player.

“I have read in the press that we have taken steps to acquire Cassano but I don´t believe this is the case.

“His arrival? For the time being, this is just fantasy.”

The 28-year-old Cassano is under contract with Sampdoria until June 2013.
